Is Your Backyard a Selling Point?

February 8th, 2009

When it comes to the home buying and selling market, one of the biggest things new homeowners are looking for is an esthetically pleasing and comfortable backyard. So for home renovators, the backyard should really be a focal point of any major home renovation if one was actually considering putting their house on the open market.

Even if you’re not selling your home, the backyard is probably one of the most important sections of the home for many people because it represents an opportunity to incorporate natural landscapes into their home’s overall look and feel. Plus, there’s no better place to enjoy being outside, so you want to make sure it’s comfortable.

For many people there are several things that any classic entertaining backyard should have, these include:

  • A well maintained garden
  • A pool for the kids (or friends for the young homeowners)
  • A nice deck and patio and area for BBQ’ing and dining
  • A dining table with an fold-away umbrella (to block the sun while you and your guests are eating)
  • A killer BBQ (did we mention partying and catering to friends?)

This is just the starting point, some backyards have beautiful walkways and breathtaking waterfalls, anything is imaginable with an investment of hard work and a little time and money. With this post we just wanted to get you all thinking about the upcomming spring home renovation projects, as over the next few months we will be focusing mainly on spring renovation projects as it’s important to get a head start on the home improvement season!
