Lawn Scarifier – Your one step lawn maintenance system

When we think of building a family home, one of the first things that comes to the mind is a lush green lawn in front, and it is also one of the most frequent requests home owners make to their architects and general contractors. Creating a lawn at home might not be too difficult, but the problem is to maintain it.

We have so many different challenges in maintaining a lawn – the most common of them being weeds, thatch, and brown grass. It is a fact that a lawn looks great only when it is green. A brown lawn is detrimental to the look of the home. But in todays busy lives, how much time do we have to spend on maintaining a lawn – watering it, pruning it, and weeding out the unnecessary parts?

That is where a lawn scarifier comes in. Unlike other lawn equipment, this one does multiple things at one go – from raking to removing thatch to removing dead matter without harming the grass shoots. A basic version would allow us to manually run the scarifier over the lawn – just like we run a manual lawn mover. There are also electric versions which run on either power or batteries. For homes with large lawns, there are petrol based lawn scarifiers available, which eliminate the problem of snaking power cables across the lawn and porch.

Avid gardeners would know that a little thatch – of usually a centimeter or so – is good for the lawn. Good models of lawn scarifiers automatically leave a little thatch on the ground and then remove the rest of it. If needed, you can adjust the settings to remove that also, or to leave more.

A lawn scarifier is a must have for home owners who love their lawns. It is not expensive, and the tasks it takes care of are immense! Look up the various options available and choose the one which suits you the best.
